Troy Anthony Haynes Jr.

Troy Haynes Jr., was a kind, compassionate, athletic teenager with big-time aspirations and dreams. Troy was a highly respected athlete across the State of Delaware, serving as the 4-year starting quarterback at Woodbridge High School. During his career, he earned the accolades of being an All-State Player, Blue-Gold All Star Player, two-time State Champion, and was voted as the All-Decade Quarterback for the State of Delaware. He was equally as successful in the classroom, maintaining a 3.4 GPA during high school.
On April 26th, 2019, Troy was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, months away from graduating high school and attending the University of Mt. Union to further his academic and football career. Troy chose to keep fighting to the best of his ability and from there underwent five months of clinical trials, surgeries, and other aggressive therapies and treatments. His original prognosis ranged from two weeks to three months, and finally that he wouldn’t see his 19th birthday. Nevertheless, Troy continued to fight and spread love and positivity, demonstrating courage and strength that was a greater encouragement to his family and friends which was far more than they were encouragement to him.
Despite his courageous efforts, Troy’s battle with Renal Medullary Carcinoma ended in September 2019, exactly seven days after his 19th birthday. Though his passing left heavy hearts, his legacy of leadership, scholarship, athleticism, positivity, and that award-winning smile resonated loudly throughout the Woodbridge community and the entire State of Delaware and encouraged us all to #FightLike4!
